Pakistan women's team pacer Fatima Sana aspires to become a complete all-rounder in the near future.
Fatima, who is the captain of Strikers in the ongoing four-team T20 series, led his team to two consecutive victories. Strikers feature players who are under consideration for the upcoming ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
In an exclusive interview with GeoSuper.tv today, Fatima said she wants to see herself in a complete all-rounder role.
"I want to become the best all-rounder," said Fatima when she was asked about her goals in the next five years.
Fatima also aims to contribute to her team's success in overall ICC rankings. "Our team is currently at the number six position. I want our team to be in the top position. For that, we need to play as a unit. I am there in any role for my team," the right-arm pacer said.
Fatima has so far represented Pakistan in different franchise leagues around the world. She was the first Pakistani woman cricketer to play in West Indies' THE 6IXTY. Recently, she also played in the FairBreak Global.
"I have played a league so far, obviously the aim is to feature in more leagues. Yes, I want to play in the Big Bash League and The Hundred," she asserted.
"Foreign players are competitive, you learn a lot from them. You get new things every time you go to the league cricket," she added.
Meeting Ellyse Perry
Fatima, earlier this year, toured Australia with the national team. During the tour, she got a chance to meet legendary Australian woman cricketer Ellyse Perry.
The meetup between the two cricketers went viral on social media as Fatima was a bit hesitant to talk to the Aussie all-rounder.
"Since childhood when I wasn't aware much about Pakistan cricket, I used to watch her [Ellyse Perry]," shared Fatima.
"She won so many matches for her team and became an inspiration for a lot of young cricketers like me. Meeting her was a dream come true moment for me that's why I was a little bit shy at that moment,
"But, when I met her, I talked about diet, fitness, and skills with her. She helped me out by sharing her experience and it was a very useful conversation for me," she concluded.
